Matthew Glanfield posted a very interesting situation on his blog this morning. This is another typical situation that some internet marketers hope they can get away from. The faceless nature of the internet has allowed this unethical behavior to continue, and is the kind of thing that I speak out about on a regular basis. I have several clients that I work with, as a business development consultant, and I make sure that they understand that developing trusting relationship on the internet is the only way to succeed. You see if you want to become a true online/offline marketer, you need to have integrity and be up-front with your offer or service. We have an ever growing population of distrustful customers and or future business partners, we can not stand for behavior like this. You won’t see people like my friend Joel Comm, Rich Schefren, Jay Abraham, Perry Marshall, or my personal mentors like Stephen Pierce, Artemis Limpert, Tim McKee, and Seth Daley do such or train people to do such. If this is to continue, the levels of distrust will also continue to grow. I have discussed issues just like this on my blog and will continue to speak out against the faceless, nameless, entities that run rough-shawed over unsuspecting customers they hope will not see or understand what they are doing. Ethical business practices have to be renewed. We must govern and manage situations like this, and those of us that are willing to stand up for what is right, will have to speak up even louder. Several months ago I put a video up on the tube with that
title.  Once I did this it opened up the flood gates about business ethics.  I
have had the opportunity on many occasions to experience some very interesting
ethical code by some companies on the net.  I really was pissed off about a
situation that I encountered with company that advertised that they could help
me get traffic to my website.  Not!!!!  Now, I am fully responsible for the
results of my life.  “You are today where your thoughts have brought you, you
will be tomorrow where your thoughts can take you.” Pizam

The point is that even though the sales people mislead you
based on the words and the semantics they use to sell their product, you must
learn to ask the correct questions.  This experience was a very expensive one. 
It cost me over $4000.00 to learn this lesson.  What I have come to find out
after several years of building a very successful online/offline business, is
that you do not need SEO and advertising companies to help you generate traffic
and grow your business.  What I found even more enlightening, was the ethical
structure that one of the companies I worked with would build your site for you,
but would not add audio and amazingly NO Video’s.  This is totally contrary to
all the current popular web 2.0 techniques for drive massive traffic.  Now I
realize that these companies have no clue what they are doing and that they are
scamming their customers, not to mention the ethics of their whole process.

I will use my pulpit to speak out about companies and
situation like this.  I will not discuss the specific companies here, although I
will do that in person or on the phone, so I can provide proof.  There still is
far to much miscommunication and I will not perpetuate this unethical behavior. 
I am trying to stop this behavior.  Eventually, these companies will find that
the internet is a very small place.  It will even become smaller when people
like you and I speak out and conduct ourselves ethically.

Hello everyone. I just wanted to share a few thoughts. I was speaking with a lady the other day on the phone about my business. She had called in from one of my ads and we were talking about being real; honestly this world can be a real scary place at times and she had been burnt with businesses in the past and had some bad experience. I shared with her that I have created a mechanism or a way to communicate with one another that shows, in fact that we are real people, that we are in fact authentic. By being honest and having integrity, we can bridge the caps of fear, doubt, and distrust. That’s what we are really trying to accomplish is helping others succeed and improve our plight in life. What became quit clear in a very short time was the dynamics of the conversation change from suspicion, to a very engaging conversation.

I have no idea if my business is the right vehicle for her, but I was assured of one thing. We both left that conversation the better for it. Because of a simple video placed on youtube, with the right content, the phone began to ring. What had happened is that I offer a real life perspective; like I was sitting in front of this person, like I was actually having a one on one conversation with her which led her to pick up the phone and say “what are you doing? What is this all about?” When I got off the phone I was just fascinated. This really is cool. It’s really quite amazing way of introducing myself to you, telling you a little bit about myself and what I can do as a business mentor, a business coach, business development consultant is what I call myself and how we can marry relationships in business.

The key to success in the online or off-line business is true honest, true integrity, and being ethical in all of your business practices. This world is getting smaller and smaller with the developments of the internet and how quickly information moves today. You won’t be in business very long if you don’t have ethical business practices.
